Counterfactual Thinking

Counterfactual thinking is thinking about a past that did not happen. This often happens  in 'if only...' situations, where we wish something had or had not happened.

This can be so powerful we can change our own memories, adjusting the facts and creating new memories. It can happen to cover up trauma or may be just excuses to avoid facing uncomfortable truths. It can also be to explain what is otherwise unexplainable.

Hiraeth

Hiraeth
(n) a home sickness for a home you can’t return to, or that never was.

Maroon 5 - Maps

I miss the taste of a sweeter life
I miss the conversation
I’m searching for a song tonight
I’m changing all of the stations

I like to think that we had it all
We drew a map to a better place
But on that road I took a fall
Oh baby why did you run away?

I was there for you
In your darkest times
I was there for you
In your darkest nights

But I wonder where were you?
When I was at my worst
Down on my knees
And you said you had my back
So I wonder where were you?
When all the roads you took came back to me

So I’m following the map that leads to you
The map that leads to you
Ain't nothing I can do
The map that leads to you
Following, following, following to you
The map that leads to you
Ain't nothing I can do
The map that leads to you
Following, following, following

I hear your voice in my sleep at night
Hard to resist temptation
'Cause something strange has come over me
And now I can’t get over you
No, I just can’t get over you

I was there for you
In your darkest times
I was there for you
In your darkest nights

But I wonder where were you?
When I was at my worst
Down on my knees
And you said you had my back
So I wonder where were you?
When all the roads you took came back to me

So I’m following the map that leads to you
The map that leads to you
Ain't nothing I can do
The map that leads to you
Following, following, following to you
The map that leads to you
Ain't nothing I can do
The map that leads to you

Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Yeah yeah yeah
Oh oh oh

Oh, I was there for you
Oh, in your darkest time
Oh, I was there for you
Oh, in your darkest nights

Oh, I was there for you
Oh, in your darkest time
Oh, I was there for you
Oh, in your darkest nights

But I wonder where were you?
When I was at my worst
Down on my knees
And you said you had my back
So I wonder where were you?
When all the roads you took came back to me

So I’m following the map that leads to you
The map that leads to you
Ain't nothing I can do
The map that leads to you
Following, following, following to you
The map that leads to you
Ain't nothing I can do
The map that leads to you
Following, following, following

Awkward moment

Sometimes you may feel nervous when meeting someone new for the first time and it may not leave the best first impression as nerves often cause many people to be tongue-tied and unnatural

It’s okay to be nervous. Almost everyone gets nervous when they are presented with something intimidating or scary—and for many, meeting people for the first time can definitely be nerve wracking! Remind yourself, it is okay to be nervous

I lost myself and do something stupid...HA

I just read this!

"Reading a book is like rewriting it for yourself. You bring to a novel, anything you read, all your experiences of the world, you bring your history and you read it in your own terms."
Angela Carter 1940-1992

Déjà vu

The strange sensation that something one is now experiencing has happened before: “I knew I had never been in this place before, but as I walked up the staircase, I got a weird sense of déjà vu.”
